Kizhi (Pouch Massage)

Kizhi is a therapeutic Ayurvedic massage that involves the use of heated herbal poultices (potlis) filled with medicinal herbs, powders, rice, or sand. These poultices are warmed in herbal oils and applied to the body using rhythmic movements. Kizhi helps relieve muscle pain, joint stiffness, inflammation, and stress while improving circulation and detoxification. It is commonly used in the treatment of arthritis, sciatica, and other musculoskeletal disorders. Variants include Njavara Kizhi (Pinda Sweda), Ela Kizhi (Patra Pinda Sweda), and Podikizhi (Choorna Pinda Sweda), depending on the ingredients used.
